Privacy Policy
Hens is operated by Hens LLC (“Hens,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you visit myhens.co, join the Hens app list, or take part in the Hens community, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Hens is offered to adult women in the United States, in the Washington, DC area.
1. What we collect
App list
When you join the app list on myhens.co, we collect your email address through Google Forms so we can tell you when the Hens app is ready (planned for early 2027).
Community
Hens currently runs as a group on Facebook. When you join or take part there, Facebook (Meta Platforms, Inc.) collects and processes your information under its own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control. We see what you share in the group: your name and profile as Facebook shows them, your posts and comments, your RSVPs, and messages you send to Hens.
Events
When you RSVP to a Hens event, we receive your name and your RSVP. When an event is ticketed, tickets are bought through the payment link on the event; the payment processor collects your card details and we receive confirmation of the purchase. We never receive or store your full card number.
Photos
Photos are taken at Hens events and may be shared in the community and on myhens.co. If you would rather not appear in photos, tell the host at the event or email us, and we will take a photo down.
Website
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit. myhens.co does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
Location
We do not collect precise GPS location.
2. How we use it
We use this information to run Hens: to welcome you to the community, plan and host events, record RSVPs, and let you know about plans and events. We use your app-list email to tell you when the Hens app is ready.
We use it to keep the community safe: to look into reports, enforce the Community Guidelines and Terms, and remove members when we need to. We use it as needed to comply with law and to protect Hens, our members, and others.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for targeted advertising.
3. What other members see
In the Facebook group, other members see what Facebook shows them: your name, profile, posts, comments, and RSVPs. Your app-list email address is never shown to other members.
4. Who we share it with
Service providers that work for us and may only use your information to provide their service: Google (Forms and associated Google account storage, where app-list signups are stored), Porkbun (website hosting and email forwarding), Facebook (Meta Platforms, Inc.), which hosts the community under its own terms, and the ticketing and payment providers named on each ticketed event.
Other members, as described in Section 3.
Legal and safety. We may share information to comply with law, a subpoena, or a lawful request; to enforce our Terms; or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Hens, our members, or the public.
Business transfers. If Hens LLC sells or transfers Hens, your information may transfer with it, subject to this policy.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your app-list details until the Hens app has launched and we have contacted you, or until you ask us to remove them, whichever comes first. We keep event and community records while you are a member, except for records we need to keep: records of reports and enforcement actions, ticket purchase confirmations, and anything subject to a legal hold. Content you posted in the Facebook group is governed by Facebook's retention practices.
6. Your choices
You can leave the Facebook group at any time. You can ask us to remove you from the app list, ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to take down a photo of you by emailing betsy@myhens.co. Email from Hens includes a way to opt out; if it does not, reply and tell us.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law. If you believe your information has been accessed without permission, email betsy@myhens.co.
8. Age
Hens is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
9. Changes and contact
If we make material changes to this policy, we will post the update on myhens.co and, where we can, let you know by email or in the community before it takes effect. Questions and requests go to betsy@myhens.co or to Hens LLC, Washington, DC.
